President's MessageText Box: OurNJSPBA Benefits and Services PBA Death Benefits Any PBA member killed while in the performance of his/her law enforcement duties and in accordance with the NJ State PBA By-Laws will have twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) paid first to the spouse; if no surviving spouse, to the children equally. PBA Car Shields Any active or retired members may be eligible for two car shields. Unlike other organizations our shields cannot be bought. You must be a law enforcement officer and PBA member to get a PBA Shield. PBA License Plates Any active or retired PBA member, or spouse of a PBA member may be eligible for a State PBA license plate. The NJSPBA plates will only be issued to vehicles registered in the name of PBA members or spouses. PBA Safety Cards The NJ State PBA issues out 10 safety cards to each member in good standing in the PBA. A Travel & Dues card is also issued, to be kept on the member’s person. This recognizes the card holder as a member of the NJ State PBA. PBA Family Members Cards The NJ State PBA Family Member cards are for immediate family members only. The family member cards may be purchased by the State Delegate at the NJPBA Office, or during the Board of Delegates Meeting. PBA Legal Protection Plan The LPP (Legal Protection Plan) was established in 1993. The plan was specifically designed for the membership of the NJ State PBA. This program provides you protection for legal costs for a minimal cost. As of March 1, 2002 the NJSPBA L.P.P. became self-funded, and there are no more deductibles. Many others have tried to duplicate it but with no success. PBA Website Our 33,000 members and friends now have access to the NJ State PBA 24 hours a day, via our web page at at www.njspba.com. Our web page is designed to assist our members and the law enforcement community with questions regarding legal protection, legislation, pensions, job searches, and many other resources that would be beneficial to our members, their families, and friends. that your emails and requests will be addressed.
